A Comparative Anatormic Study of the Anterior and Posterior Cruciate Ligaments Using Laser Micrometer System

Abstract
In this study, the cross-sectional shapes and areas of the anterior and posterior oruciate ligaments were evaluated in their in-situ anatomic positions using a laser micrometer system to more accurately define the in-situ anatomy of them.
@ES The results wee as follows:
@EN 1. The cross-sectional area of the PCL was shown to be statistically larger at the midsubstance and proximal levels than the distal one.
2. The ACI was relatively constant at each level.
3. There was no significant difference in the cross-sectional areas of the ACL and PCL at all angles of flexion.
4. The PCL was determined to be 22%, 50% and 51% larger than the ACL at the distal, midsubstance and proximal sections at 30 degree knee flexion, and 23%, 49% and 52% larger at 90% degree knee flexion.
